Evergreen Youth Group is made up of some very busy youth! We have competitive skiers, musicians, gymnasts, basket ball players and dramatists. And we live all the way from Evergreen to Golden to Denver. Because of this we don't meet every week but plan for special gatherings and events.
In August we held a lock-in at the church and planned how to decorate our youth room, played games and talked about who we want to be together. In September we decorated our youth room with five themed walls. It is very bright! We also enjoyed time together at the All Church Retreat at camp LaForet. In October we met up with other Disciples youth and went to the corn maze at Chatfield. And we dressed up for a Halloween Party too!
We have also been very involved with worship. One of our youth helped plan an Animal Blessing service. Another one, who had traveled to Venezuela on a mission trip in the spring, led a Venezuelan style service. And all the youth led worship in October. At this service we played our favorite music - Tupac, Nickelback, All American Rejects, The Fray, John Mayer and The David Crowder Band. Then we reflected on the songs. The theme was how we can be involved in changing the world.
We also are together every Sunday for Sunday School. The youth have asked to learn more about the Bible - who wrote it? how do all those stories fit together historically? what are the main themes and characters? and how to find important books and events.
